7” EPC Netbook Review

netbook7 7” EPC Netbook ReviewWhen you first take a look at the 7” EPC Netbook 7” EPC Netbook Review the word that will come to your mind is no doubt retro. This netbook does have a serious look and feel of an older style of laptop. While this machine does have a bit of a retro feel to it, this machine is a great choice for a variety of low needs users, specifically younger users who only need basic web browsing from their netbooks. So, lets get down to the brass tacks, let talk about the specs that this machine has to offer an end user.

The operating system on the 7” EPC Netbook 7” EPC Netbook Review is Windows CE. While many users may not be familiar with the operating system right away, but since it is a Windows based system, and most of them are very similar most people will not have a hard time adapting. Be aware that if you have any plans about buying the machine and installing an older version of Windows (like XP) that you should think again. This system will not be able to support any of those operating systems.

The system only have 2GB of hard drive space, which would be bad news if you want to keep a wide variety of files on your system, but when you are looking for web only, which a lot of younger users who would be primarily playing games online, this will not be much of an issue at all. The system is set up for Wi-Fi, though some users have reported issues with maintaining their connections, so you will need to be careful to set it up again when you take the system into a new connection area.

The processor on the 7” EPC Netbook 7” EPC Netbook Review is a VIA-ARM VT8500 CPU processor, with a clock speed of 300M Hz, which is not high performance, but it will be a solid choice for most web browsing. This model is surprisingly generous with the ports. It has three USB ports and one SD card reader.

The maximum screen resolution for this netbook is 800 x 481, which is by no means HD, but most younger users don’t really need that, and you probably should not shell out the cash for a high-end machine for a younger user anyway. They don’t really have the capacity to appreciate, or care for, the higher end machines anyway. If you get this system for a 5 or 6 year old it could easily last them to age 9 or 10 as a gaming and web machine.

On the whole this could be a great budget friendly option for younger users and you should seriously consider it for kids. Of course, if you want to do a little bit of comparison shopping then you should check out our netbook comparisons page to find yourself a machine that will meet your specific mobile computing needs. Believe me, there is a netbook out there for every need.

2. Toshiba Satellite L755-S5271 15.6-Inch Laptop ($499.99 as reviewed)

Toshiba Satellite L755 S5271 15.6 Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceIn my opinion this is the best laptop on the market for the price. I bought this because my previous laptop stopped working after three years of use and after reading the specs on this laptop it caught my attention. I think the best thing about it is that it’s VERY fast! And quite honestly I think that is the most important thing to most people, especially me. The hard drive is huge and can hold many many videos and music files. I’ve never owned a Toshiba but doing research has lead me to the fact that they are ranked as one of the top three manufactures of laptops! In terms of use, it was very easy to set up, the mouse pad is great and feels great, the keyboard is easy to use, and the battery is AMAZING. My previous laptop would only last 2 hours on a full charge, so this is a HUGE improvement. Although I haven’t had it very long, I am excited to be using it for the upcoming semester.

3. Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830T-6642 14-Inch Laptop ($699.99 as reviewed)

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4830T 6642 Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceThis is a great light weight laptop. It works with everything I put on it,

and its not too hard to get the preloaded stuff off of it. It has a quick start-up and shutdown time,

and a natural feeling keyboard.

It also has a nice macro button in the right hand corner that I can assign a program to, i.e. my Firefox button.

I never have to worry about the battery life (at least 6-8 hours),

and I even have a dual boot of Linux running smoothly with Windows.
Highly recommended.

4. ASUS A53U-XE1 15.6-Inch Versatile Entertainment Laptop ($329.99 as reviewed)

ASUS A53U XE1 15.6 Inch Versatile Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceI have been looking for a new laptop for a while now, and I happened to find this one on amazon.

I couldn’t find too many reviews on it, but based on the specs that I saw I decided to buy it. This turned out to be a great decision.

I am in the middle of high school, so I need something that will last a little while, and perform pretty well. This easily does everything that I need, and also has a surprisingly good battery life.

This was the one thing that I was weary about when I bought it, but the battery lasts a good 5 hours on average for me, doing basic tasks, and some video watching. Considering the price, this is probably the best laptop you can find, even though it is a little bit obscure. It runs quite fast for me, and has everything that I could need in a computer.

5. Toshiba Satellite P755-S5274 15.6-Inch LED Laptop ($699.99 as reviewed)

Toshiba Satellite P755 S5274 15.6 Inch Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceI bought this Toshiba laptop (P755-S5215, has identical specifications) from another store (to save a few dollars) as a gift for my college-bound daughter. I wanted a minimum i3 2nd gen processor, 6GB RAM, sizeable hard drive (this one is 640GB but it’s 5400 not 7200 rpm). My daughter strongly desired the touchpad location that is on this laptop. HP and newer Dell 15? laptops place the touchpad centered below the J and K keys. Hence, her right thumb joint kept bumping the touchpad and moving the mouse to random locations–very annoying. There is plenty of room for her left hand beside the touchpad.

I agree with comments on another review, that this laptop has sufficient backlighting above and below the keyboard–no need to have each key backlit. One USB port is 3.0 and allows the laptop to still charge a device connected to that USB port while the laptop is asleep, which is useful. Webcam isn’t the best but that can be inexpensively changed. Finally, an HDMI port is included. All in all, there are plenty of nice extras on a reasonably powered laptop, for a decent price.

6. Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T-6651 11.6-Inch Laptop ($599.99 as reviewed)

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T1 Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceI got the machine from amazon after weeks of research, reading reviews, and wondering if this would be a big mistake. Most of the reviews i read were pretty positive with similar gripes. The Acer was at least half the price of anything i saw that could compare in weight and processor, and i pulled the trigger. I’ve had it two weeks and i have to say i’m pretty impressed. Taking into account that it’s plastic, it is, and it’s #650, it seems solid in feel and look. The 3 pound weight is terrific, and it gets a little warm, but not hot. The screen is bright and everything works as advertised. The i5 processor is fast enough for my guitar software (Guitar Rig 3) and anything else i’ve thrown at it. The trackpad is not the best quality but it’s very tweakable and absolutely usable. It does all the two finger multi gestures my macbook does, just not as elegantly. When it’s at home i use an apple wireless Bluetooth keyboard and that works fine as well. In fact the only problems i’ve had have been tweaking Windows 7, and not the Acer. While i’m sure that if i drop it it’s dead, that may be the same with any of the more expensive small machines. So far i’m really happy with the decision to get the Acer – thanks to all who reviewed it before me.

7. Apple MacBook Air MC968LL/A 11.6-Inch Laptop ($949.99 as reviewed)

Apple MacBook Air Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceI’ve been a long time PC owner and have always vowed to never own a Mac. I considered them overpriced niche machines with subpar hardware for people that had more money than sense.

I’m ready to admit that I was very wrong. I was looking for an ultraportable for school and I just couldn’t find one that I liked. Finally, I gave in to reviews and bought the MBA 11. I figured I’d try it out and return it if it sucked.

Well, I’m definitely not returning it. I love this computer. It’s sleek, super light, and performs perfectly. I have the base model, because for someone who only uses a computer to type papers and browse the internet, you really don’t need much more.

This beats every windows machine I’ve owned, even those with more RAM and bigger hard drives.

8. HP Pavilion dv6-6110us 15.6-Inch Entertainment Notebook PC ($580.97 as reviewed)

HP Pavilion dv6 6110us Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceRight, the Hp Dv6 with AMD A6 Quad core is a powerful little machine! It lets me do my college work and also play games at an incredible price! The on board APU is more than adequate for most needs, although you can opt for the AMD Dual graphics too.

The battery life is fair to good, I get about 3-4 hours off a single charge in real life. At this price I think people would be stupid not to buy this! paid $499 for a machine which can match and beat machines a lot more expensive from Intel.

The AMD A6 3400 Quad core and the 6 gb of DDR3 ram make this a fun laptop which is good for engineering software too.
Overall, I see no reason to not recommend this laptop, HP is after all #1 in the world!

9. Dell XPS 15 X15L-1024ELS Laptop ($898.80 as reviewed)

Dell XPS 15 X15L 1024ELS Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceI purchased this laptop from Amazon a little less than a week ago and truly enjoy this product. It is the seventh laptop I’ve owned(third Dell). The screen is large and very bright with amazing colors. The keyboard is very nice-I LOVE the backlit feature! The trackpad is large and works very well. The sound system and JBL speakers are the best I’ve heard in a laptop but still don’t compare to my Bose Companion 3 Series II external speaker system. I got somewhat of a bonus in that mine came preloaded with Windows 7 Professional instead of Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. The laptop is pretty fast with the CORE i7 processor and 6GB of RAM. The 640GB harddrive is nice, but definitely more than I’ll ever use. It seems to stay nice and cool while running, and is very quiet. So far, so good..My ONLY complaints about this laptop are that the USB ports are not real convenient, in that they are on the side towards the rear and on the rear of the unit, and I think the bootup time could be a little faster(my Asus netbook boots up much faster). Overall, it seems very well constructed and I’m VERY satisfied with my purchase…Thank you Dell and Amazon!!

10. ASUS A53SV-XE1 15.6-Inch Laptop ($849.99 as reviewed)

ASUS A53SV XE1 15.6 Best Laptop Under $1000 Specification Review and PriceThis laptop Asus A53SV-XE1 15.6-inch has been one of my best buys. At first I was very hesitant to purchase this item for one very specific reason, I could not find it on Asus USA page; and after searching for a while i found it on Asus malaysian page which scared me since I already order the item. It worried me that I was going to receive a computer with the MYL keyboard (which if you look at the pics there are 5 which show the keyboard and 3 of them show USA keyboard and 2 show the MYL keyboard). But even with all this I still did not cancel my order and went through with it. I am very glad I did. The computer arrived one day early (nice job UPS) and I called customer support just incase had them on the line while I opened the laptop to check the keyboard. All was fine this IS the USA model. Like all other reviews i do agree it comes with a lot of bloatware and some “bloatware” from Asus which is not as bad for those who don’t care to much the Asus bloatware is kinda cool (facial recognition for login etc…) but the other ones have got to go… It also does not come with recovery CD / reinstall OS cd it does come with a partition (not visible in my computer you have to go into to see disk management) that contains all the recovery data (maybe also contains bloatware I don’t know). all in all this computer is great runs battlefield: bad company 2 at medium settings flawless (you can probably put it on high and still be OK). I might submit a video review later stay tuned for that The product only gets 4 stars because of bloatware/picture with wrong keyboard.
